The Annapurna Base Camp trek takes you into the heart of the Annapurna Sanctuary — a natural amphitheater of 8,000-meter peaks where you camp at 4,130m surrounded by some of the most dramatic mountain scenery on earth.
The trail passes through diverse landscapes — terraced rice paddies, dense bamboo and rhododendron forests, and high alpine meadows — before entering the Sanctuary through a narrow gateway between Machapuchare and Hiunchuli. The base camp itself is a glacial bowl encircled by Annapurna I, Annapurna South, Gangapurna, and Machapuchare.
