The Langtang Valley trek is the closest major Himalayan trek to Kathmandu — no flights needed, just a scenic drive to the trailhead and 7 days of walking through one of Nepal’s most beautiful and least-crowded valleys.
The trail follows the Langtang Khola through ancient oak and rhododendron forests, past yak pastures and Tamang villages where prayer flags flutter from every rooftop, up to Kyanjin Gompa at 3,870m. Here, a century-old cheese factory, a Buddhist monastery, and the soaring peaks of Langtang Lirung (7,227m) create an unforgettable mountain camp.
A day hike to Tserko Ri (4,984m) rewards with one of the finest 360° panoramas in Nepal — Langtang Lirung, Ganesh Himal, and on clear days, the distant outline of the Tibetan plateau.
After the 2015 earthquake devastated the original Langtang village, the community rebuilt with incredible resilience. Visiting supports a community that embodies the spirit of the Himalayas.
