Chitwan's grasslands hold one of Asia's great wildlife recoveries: over 700 one-horned rhinos, plus leopard, sloth bear, gaur and — for the truly fortunate — the Bengal tiger.
A full-day jeep traverse with a naturalist crosses sal forest, riverine jungle and open grassland. Rhino sightings are near-certain in the dry months; everything else is the lottery that makes it a safari.
