Many Everest hands call this the finest viewpoint in the Khumbu: four 8,000-metre peaks — Everest, Lhotse, Makalu, Cho Oyu — in a single sweep above the turquoise lakes.
The climb from Gokyo village is two to three steep hours; the reward is the panorama Base Camp itself never gives you, with the Ngozumpa glacier pouring away at your feet.
